Nightscapes Workshop
  • "Shoot for the moon and if you miss, you'll still be among the stars"
    - Les Brown

For a photographer, there are few things as awe inspiring as capturing the milky way. This workshop will give you all the information you need to plan and be ready to shoot when the magic presents itself.

The workshop covers:

Setting your camera in full manual to expose the night sky

  • How to focus in the dark
  • Exposure times to achieve pin point stars
  • Exposure settings and techniques to achieve star trails
  • Exposing for the foreground
  • Post processing tips to get the most from your images

Duration:

The workshop runs over one evening (time varies depending on date)

Location

We meet in Lancefield in the afternoon or evening (depending on the time of year) and then drive together to the location. We cover theory as the sun goes down, set up our gear and head out to various locations once the milky way is in position.

Matt & Alex are very knowledgeable in all aspects off photography material handed out was attention to detail
Thank you
I really enjoyed the entire format and flow of the evening, including the presentation of written material, prior to shooting. The support and guidance throughout the shoot itself was handled with extreme patience and genuine care ; it was evident that Matt & Alex both share a love for this beautiful subject matter. While I’ve never regarded myself as a ‘star’ shooter, this workshop has served to ignite my interest. Thank you Matt & Alex for a sensational evening!

Excellent
I thoroughly enjoyed the Nightscapes workshop. Alex and Matts knowledge of astrophotography is excellent and they genuinely wanted to transfer that knowledge to all the participants. My photography skills took a great leap forward in just one session. I would highly recommend the Photospark Photography workshops.
