Nightscapes Workshop
  • "Shoot for the moon and if you miss, you'll still be among the stars"
    - Les Brown

For a photographer, there are few things as awe inspiring as capturing the milky way. This workshop will give you all the information you need to plan and be ready to shoot when the magic presents itself.

The workshop covers:

Setting your camera in full manual to expose the night sky

  • How to focus in the dark
  • Exposure times to achieve pin point stars
  • Exposure settings and techniques to achieve star trails
  • Exposing for the foreground
  • Post processing tips to get the most from your images

Duration:

The workshop runs over one evening (time varies depending on date)

Location

We meet in Lancefield in the afternoon or evening (depending on the time of year) and then drive together to the location. We cover theory as the sun goes down, set up our gear and head out to various locations once the milky way is in position.

Outstanding workshop! Worth doing more than once
The Nightscapes Workshop is one that I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to learn astro photography. Matt and Alex are experts in this field. The group size is small so that you are offered lots of assistance and advice during the night, to ensure that you come home with great shots! Can't recommend it highly enough. Loved it!
Loved it
I really enjoyed the Nightscapes workshop. Alex and Matt began with a presentation of the theory behind photographing a Milky Way. The presentation was written into notes which copies were given to us. We then proceeded to go onto the Field to exercise all that was presented to us. Alex and Matt were very attentive to all students continuously guiding and checking on us to ensure we understood the lessons presented. I highly recommend this course as Alex and Matt were very calm and patient throughout the whole class. Thank you Alex and Matt. Monica
